PRYOR — William Wilkerson, Rose, is charged with first-degree murder in the stabbing death of his mother, Susan, on Nov. 28, 2012.

He appeared on the felony dispostion docket Wednesday with his attorney Jacquline Rhoades. Rhoades said there have been discussions with the district attorney’s office about a plea agreement with the state offering life without the possibility of parole.

“My predescessor may have had some informal conversations about a plea,” Assistant District Attorney Marny Hill said, “but there is no formal offer on the table.

Without a plea agreement, the case was set for preliminary hearing Dec. 19 at 9:30 a.m.

Wilkerson had been held without bond and is still in Mayes County Jail. He was sent for mental evaluation and deemed mentally competent to stand trial.

The preliminary hearing was originally waived on July 11.

In previous court appearances the crime was described as heinous and as having malice aforethought. The conviction of murder in the first degree can carry up to a life sentence, life without parole or the death penalty.
