GROVE — The Grand River Dam Authority Police Department continues to search the waters of Grand Lake this afternoon for a missing Missouri boater.
Initial reports are that Michael Shane Chapman, 40, Joplin, Mo., has been missing since Sunday. On Monday, at approximately 4 p.m., GRDA officers recovered Chapman’s boat from the Sailboat Bridge area of Grand Lake.
Though rainstorms have caused some delays, GRDA officers have been on the water since daylight Tuesday morning, searching an area of Grand Lake ranging from west of Sailboat Bridge to the East Bay to Patricia Island, an area of 10 square miles according to Justin Alberty of GRDA’s public relations office. Officers are using boats, as well as GRDA helicopters to conduct the search.
“We will have two officers out as long as the weather allows,” said Alberty Wednesday afternoon. “It’s cold and the water is choppy, but they will be out there from daylight until dark today or until they find him.”
