Lady Warriors end season undefeated

ADAIR — The Adair Lady Warriors finished the regular season with a perfect record, 23-0, against Caney Valley Tuesday.

The Lady Warriors handled the Lady Trojans easily with a final score of 58-25.

Several Caney Valley walks turned the ball over in the first quarter, which ended in a 27-6 score.

Fouls under the basket sent both teams to the free line in the second quarter. With 2:11 remaining Caney Valley made one of two, bringing the score to 38-12. Adair missed two with 1:39 remaining, but Molly Kerr made up for it by shooting a 3-pointer from downtown 12 seconds later.

Caney Valley made one more point from the free stripe before the half ended in a 41-13 score.

It was Adair steals and lay-ups in the third quarter, increasing the score to 52-21.

A steal by MacKenzie Pippin with 2 minutes remaining put the Lady Warriors in charge until the buzzer with the final score 58-25.

In boys action, the Adair Warriors ended the regular season as Conference Champions Tuesday with a win over Caney Valley.

If a team shoots three at a time it’s tough to catch up by twos, and that’s how the game started with 3-pointers by Brady Bradbury, Greg Oxford and Brock Martin.

With three and a half minutes left in the first quarter, the Trojans found a 3-pointer, but soon missed two at the free line. At the end of the first quarter the score stood at

21-9.

It was a physical game and with 5:30 left in the half, Bradbury got a lay-up which drew a foul for one at the charity stripe. Just 21 seconds later, the Trojans made one of two attempts at the free throw line. The first half ended in a 41-27 score.

Adair scored 15 points in the third quarter, including threes from Cody Eby and Bradbury. Jordan Fleming added six, two at a time.

The third quarter turned out to be the best for Caney Valley, scoring 21 points, including two 3-pointers from Brandon McLaughlin and nine points from Jared Ward. But it wasn’t enough to catch up and the third quarter ended with a score of 56-48.

Bradbury was the 3-point star in the fourth quarter, sinking three of them from the far corners. He added 4 points from under the basket for good measure. Oxford helped out with one 2-pointer and Blane Dean came off the bench to shoot one 3-pointer.

The final score was 80-63, bringing the Warrior record to 14-9 for the year.
