The Lady Warriors defeated Chouteau 76-26 in the opening round game of the Bank of Locust Grove Invitational Tournament Monday.
Sophomore Madi Wengerd was 7-of-12 from beyond the arc, racking up 21 points off the bench.
Paige Chupp led the way for Chouteau with six points, while Emily Lumpkins chimed in another five points in the loss.
Wengerd, who didn’t start but saw plenty of floor time beginning in the second quarter, was unstoppable from three-point range, shooting 58 percent for the game.
The Lady Warriors got off to a slow start at the beginning, clinging to a 5-2 lead for the first couple of minutes before lighting it up. Senior Raven Campos scored all 13 of her points in the first quarter, as did sophomore Kylie Looney with 12 points.
Adair led 35-6 after the first quarter, and never looked back.
Adair was 9-16 from the free throw line, and Chouteau was 3-4. Chouteau’s first shot from the charity stripe didn’t come until 3:26 left in the third quarter.
“Adair is a well coached, solid basketball team,” said Chouteau Head Coach Denisha Posey. “We just need to move on, get back in the gym and focus on improving every day and every game.”
Adair plays Locust Grove Thursday at 7:20 p.m.
Chouteau faces Keys Friday at 4:30 p.m.
Adair defeated Nowata on the road in a conference game Tuesday, 60-25.
