Tigers thump Zebras

CLAREMORE, OK — The Pryor Tigers took advantage of seven Claremore errors and cruised to an 18-5 win over the ‘2A’ Zebras Tuesday afternoon in a triple-header at Legendary Legion Field.

Claremore pitchers Shawn Gordon, Nathan Hammack and Luis Chavarria did their jobs on the mound, but erratic defensive play resulted in Pryor scoring early and often.

Claremore jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning. Pryor, however, answered with eight runs on five hits and five errors in the top of the third inning.

Chandler Olsen drove in a pair of runs with a single underneath the glove of Claremore third baseman Nick Dotson, and then Nason Pace tallied two runs with a two-out fielder’s choice that resulted in an over-throw by Claremore shortstop Dustin Weiesnbach.

Pryor’s Christian Campbell plated the final run in the third inning on a bases loaded walk to put the Tigers ahead 8-3.

Claremore added a run in the bottom of the third to cut the deficit to 8-4.

Pryor tallied three runs in the fourth to make it 11-4 and Claremore added a run in the bottom of the fifth to  narrow the deficit to     11-5.

The Tigers overcame a scoreless sixth inning to secure the win with a seven-run seventh inning.

Spencer Henson’s two-run triple to left-center field and Pace’s two-run double provided the spark for the Tigers in the first of three games at Legion Field.

Pryor also beat Bartlesville, 11-0.
