ADAIR, OK —
The Warrior crowd welcomed the Adair football team home Friday night, to the tune of a 53-13 victory over Wyandotte.
The Warriors (2-0), ranked eighth in Class 2A, spread the field and used a balanced offensive attack to eviscerate the Bears.
Quarterback BJ Bradbury had a remarkable night, throwing for 264 yards and three scores on 15-of-19 passing. Bradbury's top target, junior Hunter Rosebrough, was the beneficiary of two of Bradbury's TD tosses, including a 44-yard bomb as time expired in the first half. Rosebrough caught nine balls for 155 yards overall.
Senior Cody Yoder opened the scoring with a three-yard run five minutes into the contest. Yoder, who would finish with 57 yards on 11 totes, also scored on a one-yard run to put the Warriors up 35-13 in the third quarter.
Adair opened a 21-0 lead on a 17-yard Cody Eby touchdown run at the 9:04 mark in the second quarter. Wyandotte sliced the lead to 21-13 with 53 seconds left before halftime on a 36-yard pass play before Bradbury and Rosebrough hooked up to end the half.
The pair also connected for a 46-yard score in the first quarter.
Bradbury ended his night with a 25-yard scoring toss to Eby midway through the third quarter. Bradbury, who also led the Warriors in rushing with 81 yards on 11 carries, picked up a score on the ground in the third period.
Ben Woolman punched in a six-yard TD run with 8:39 remaining to give the Warriors their final margin. Woolman finished with 66 yards on six carries.
Eby (three carries, 48 yards) and Rosebrough (two carries, 29 yards) helped Adair to 293 rushing yards. Brock Martin, another favorite target of Bradbury's, caught four passes for 57 yards.
Adair totaled 542 yards on the night and gave up 353 to the visiting Bears.
The win marks Adair's third over the Bears in as many tries over the last 12 months. The Warriors pounded the Bears 54-22 in Week 2 last year before a 46-16 romp in the first round of the 2A state playoffs.
The Warriors now fix their gaze on unbeaten and second-ranked Millwood. Adair will host the Falcons Friday at 7 p.m.
