Baseball roundup: Adair holds off Commerce

COMMERCE, OK — Adair clipped Commerce, 9-5, Monday afternoon at Commerce.

The Warriors' Heath Kerr went 3-for-4 with a double and two RBIs batting out of the ninth spot in the order.

Adair (5-3) blew the contest open with six runs in the top of the fourth and fifth innings to take a 9-2 lead.

Brock Martin struck out three Tigers and gave up three runs in five innings of work before being relieved by Cody Eby. Martin was 2-for-3 at the plate with two RBIs.

Catcher Alec Brand doubled and batted in a run in his only at-bat before leaving with a broken nose he suffered in a play at the plate.

Wildcats rough up Riders

OKAY — Chouteau defeated Hulbert for the second time this season Monday by an 8-3 count to improve to 12-1.

The Wildcats moved up to 16th in the Class 2A poll Monday afternoon, up two spots from their first-ever ranking last week.

Conner Darnell (4-0) fanned 10 Riders and hit a two-RBI triple. Cody Atwell went 2-for-3 at the plate and batted in a pair of runs.

Metro Christian conquers Salina, 15-7

TULSA — Metro Christian knocked off Salina, 15-7, in an inter-class game Monday in Tulsa.

The Patriots, ranked 10th in Class 4A, were the third 4A top-15 team the Wildcats (6-5) played in three days. Salina went 1-2 over that stretch.
