Adair dropped a 2-1 decision to the host Warriors Saturday to claim second place in the 2014 Ketchum Hardball Classic.
2A No. 7 Ketchum handed Adair (3-1) its first mark in the loss column on the season a day after Adair swarmed its junior varsity, 13-3.
Adair will have a chance to build on its promising start at 3A No. 15 Kansas Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. Adair will not host its home opener until Saturday against top-ranked Verdigris.
LG trumps Lincoln for second W
LOCUST GROVE — Locust Grove knocked off Lincoln Christian by a 10-4 margin Friday in the Patriot Spring Break Classic for its second win of the year.
Brayden Littledave went 4-for-4 on the day to lead LG (2-6) past the Bulldogs.
The Pirates sandwiched the win between losses to Class 5A Skiatook Thursday and 5A Tahlequah Saturday in the Classic’s fifth-place game.
Locust Grove absorbed a 13-0 loss to Skiatook before dropping a 9-8 shootout to the Tigers for sixth place.
Salina hosts home opener
SALINA — Class 3A’s 10th-ranked Salina Wildcats were set to host their home debut Monday against Tahlequah Sequoyah.
Salina (1-2) dropped a pair of games over Spring Break to Spiro and Farmington (Ark.) but will try to bounce back against the Indians Monday and Westville Tuesday.
Chouteau enters Okay fray
OKAY — Chouteau began play Monday at the Okay Tournament with a pair of contests.
The Wildcats (7-0) played Oaks and Okay late Monday.
Chouteau will host Watts at 4:30 p.m. today in a non-tournament game before concluding pool play at Okay against Braggs at 6 p.m. Thursday.
