Dale eliminates Chouteau despite Alsip’s 24

MUSKOGEE, OK — Junior guard Arlis Alsip piled on 24 points but it was not enough for Chouteau, as the Wildcats succumbed to Dale in overtime in a Class 2A Area consolation game at the Muskogee Civic Center Thursday.

Freshman Champ Bridges knocked down a game-tying triple at the end of the fourth quarter to send the game to extra time tied at 42. Bridges added 11 points and was the only other Wildcat in double-figures.

After a Heath Dietrick trey cut the Dale lead to 51-48 in the extra frame, the Pirates’ Tanner Nelson added a free throw with less than 10 seconds to play to seal the Dale win.

Chouteau (18-10) took a 22-19 lead into the locker room but fell behind 34-31 after the third quarter.

Chouteau’s Michael Ford, Emeory Phillips and Austin Hershberger each played their last game in a Wildcat jersey.
