CLAREMORE, OK — Inola outscored Locust Grove by 19 points in the final two quarters to send the Pirates to an early exit from a Class 4A area tournament Thursday at Claremore High School by a 64-58 margin.

The Pirates (22-4) jumped out to a 35-22 lead at halftime, but Inola’s Casey Gill led the Longhorns within two (41-39) by the start of the fourth. Inola poured on 25 points in the final quarter to score a huge upset of the seventh-ranked Pirates.

Locust Grove junior Colton Pike scored 17 points and sophomore Mason Fine added 13, including a triple with 56.3 seconds left to bring LG within four points (59-55). A Zack Robinson 3 with 12.5 seconds to play was the last bucket the Pirates would get.

Robinson scored 10 points in the game. Lone Pirate senior Taylor Halpain scored 11 in what turned out to be his farewell game in a Locust Grove jersey.
