SALINA, OK —
Salina and Locust Grove will co-host the 2014 Salina Invitaional Tournament starting Thursday.
Seven teams, including the Wildcats, Pirates and Warriors of Adair, will open pool play at two locations Thursday afternoon.
Vinita and Inola will join Salina in Pool A. Vinita and Inola will open the tournament at 12:30 p.m. in Salina, followed by a Pool B game between Adair and Westville at 3 p.m. Salina and Inola will close play at Sam Baker Stadium at 5:30 p.m.
In Locust Grove, the Pirates will play a back-to-back with Ketchum (3:30 p.m.) and Westville (6 p.m.).
On Friday, the only contest in Locust Grove will feature the Pirates and Adair at 3:30 p.m.
In Salina, Ketchum and Westville will play at 3 p.m. Friday, followed by Salina and Vinita at 5:30 p.m. and Ketchum and Adair in the 8 p.m. nightcap.
The championship schedule will be played Saturday at Salina. The seventh-place game will start at 10 a.m., followed by fifth-place at 12:30 p.m., third-place at 3 p.m. and the title game at 5:30 p.m.
Salina to host district tourney
Salina will host a Class 3A district tournament, the Oklahoma Secondary Schools Activities Association announced last week.
Sam Baker Stadium will be the venue for a double-elimination district tourney between the Wildcats (11-11) and Nowata (14-8).
Salina is not the only county team without a current winning record set to host a district tourney. Locust Grove (4-16) will welcome Miami (13-11) for a Class 4A tournament as well.
Adair (10-10) will travel to Pawhuska to settle a Class 3A district with the Huskies (13-4).
