JENKS, OK —
Alex Smith took to the water for his final time as a high school athlete Monday, representing Pryor in the 2013 Oklahoma Coaches' Association All-State swim meet at Jenks High School.
Smith, who graduated in May, swam the third leg of the 200-meter medley for the East squad, which finished third with a time of 1:47.69.
Smith took fourth in the 100-meter butterfly (59.69) and swam the anchor leg for the East 200-meter freestyle team. The West squad (1:35.04) edged the East in the 200 freestyle by .74 seconds.
Smith was the final competitor in the final race of the All-State meet, anchoring the 400-meter freestyle East team. The East fell to the West, which set an all-time meet record with a 3:16.71 finish.
The West boys defeated the East in the overall competition, 58-33.
