TAHLEQUAH, OK —
Pryor’s Carson Smallwood picked up two bronze medals and a silver at last weekend’s regional track meet at Tahlequah, qualifying for three events at this week’s state tournament at Yukon High School.
Smallwood claimed an individual silver in the 200-meter dash final with a time of 23.28 despite a top overall preliminary time, outpacing teammate Jabarre Blaylock (7th, 23.99).
Smallwood and Blaylock teamed with Jaquwan Blaylock and Blade Pickup for Smallwood’s second podium finish of the day, a third-place spot in the 4x200 meter relay. The team qualified for state with a time of 1:34.81.
Smallwood scored his hat trick with a 19-foot, 7-inch long jump, good for third place.
Jerry Tolman made it two Tiger jumpers to qualify for state with a runner-up high jump of 6 feet.
Pryor’s Kendall Odle was an additional state qualifier in two events. Her 5:52.27 finish in the 1600-meter race was good for fifth place at Tahlequah, and her time of 12:50.39 won sixth place in the 3200 meters.
Pryor sprinters Tiffany Atkins and Angie Gomez picked up top-10 finishes in the the 100- and 200-meter dashes, respectively, while Jaclyn True took 11th in the 100-meter hurdles.
Pickup notched fifth place in the boys 100-meter dash with a time of 12.02. Jabarre Blaylock and Jimmy White finished in the top 10 in the 400 meters. Brett Stevens finished seventh in the 1600-meter race and booked a trip to state with a fifth-place time of 10:32.46 in the 3200 meters.
Jaquwan Blaylock finished fourth in the 110 hurdles (16.61) and 8th in the 300 hurdles (44.25). Blaylock once again teamed up with Smallwood, Pickup and Jabarre Blaylock to nab sixth place in the 4x400 relay.
