Barry's layup upsets Kansas

SALINA, OK — Salina's Cassi Barry dropped in a layup with 1.5 seconds to play to help Salina upset Kansas, 34-33, for the second time in eight days Tuesday.

Barry only scored four points for the Lady Wildcats (10-7), but the last two were as big as they could be. Down 33-32 with less than 10 seconds to go, Salina inbounded the ball, but the play SHS head coach Mark Fraley drew up didn't work out the way he planned.

"It took a little extra effort, but Shaylee (Morgan) found Cassi down low and Cassi made the play," Fraley said.

Salina is on a six-game win streak that includes an NEO tournament title and two wins over a top-10 opponent in Kansas.

"Our confidence is high right now," Fraley said. "It's a good time to be playing good basketball."

Morgan led all scorers with a dozen points and Morgan Littlefield added nine. The Lady Comets bottled up high-flying sophomore Courtney Condit, who had 17 points in the teams' meeting at Kansas Jan. 21. She had just three points Tuesday.
