Salina sweeps NEO Tournament

MIAMI, OK — Salina's boys toppled Southwest-Washburn (Mo.), 59-47, on Saturday in the Blue Division championship game in the 69th Northeastern Oklahoma A&M high school basketball tournament.

Mark Cowan led the Wildcats (10-6) with 17 points.

The Trojans’ Blake Barnes captured was the game's high-scorer with 22 points, and James Sellars and Brad Daniels contributed 11 points each.

Salina is 7-2 in its last nine games after a 3-4 start to the season.

Lady Wildcats nab NEO trophy

MIAMI — Salina's girls took home their first tournament title of the year after posting a 52-44 victory over Southwest-Washburn (Mo.) in the NEO High School Tournament at Miami Saturday.

The Lady Wildcats (9-7), led by Courtney Condit's 21 points, jumped out to an 18-5 lead in the first quarter.
 Salina’s Cassi Berry and Kaisee Morgan each had 10 points.

Southwest’s Shannon Mitchell tied Condit for scoring honors with 21 points.

The Lady Wildcats are riding a five-game winning streak into a rematch with No. 6 Kansas tonight at 6:30 p.m. in Salina.
