Pryor, Salina enter rankings

PRYOR, OK — After a 4-0 start to the season, the Pryor Tigers opened the 2013 baseball season ranked No. 7 in Class 5A.

Carl Albert tops the initial poll, which was released this week. The Titans are followed by the Tigers’ Highway 20 rival Claremore at No. 2.

Deer Creek, McAlester and Guthrie round out the top five. Chickasha checks in at No. 6.

Bishop McGuinness, Tahlequah and Durant sit at Nos. 8, 9 and 10, respectively.

Salina, which opened the season at 3-1, is ranked fourth in Class 3A behind Verdigris, Henryetta and Jones.

The Wildcats blanked Lincoln Christian (1-0) and Westville (10-0) in contests this week after losing Monday to Class 4A No. 13 Fort Gibson.

Locust Grove fell to 1-4 on the season after dropping home tests with Wagoner Tuesday (12-4) and Stilwell Thursday (11-2).

Adair will start play at home against Chelsea Tuesday.
