Adair looks to avenge playoff loss

No. 5-ranked Adair will get a chance to avenge last year’s playoff loss, during the regular season.

Pawhuska comes to Adair Friday for a 2011 2A round one rematch, where the Cougars upended the Warriors, 19-13, in overtime.

The matchup mimics the Huskies visit last year in multiple ways.

Adair is again undefeated heading into the game.

Pawhuska is 4-5, needing again to win its last game of the season to finish at .500.

At this week’s practice, Head Coach Mark Lippe said his team is anticipating the game...while remembering the heartbreak.

“They’ve been thinking about it (this game) every day,” Lippe said.

“It’s really served as a lot of motivation to work hard and improve. And we’re really looking at this as a chance to come out and play hard against a good football team. They have all their parts in place. They do it every year.”

If Lippe’s squad, a mix of youngsters with senior leadership, wins Friday night, it will be the first time in the school’s history with back to back undefeated seasons.
