Local association gives back

— Thanks to the Pryor Creek Womens Golf Association, two local student-athletes had a brighter Christmas.

The association donated $1,000 each to Tressa Brumley of Chouteau and Taylor Arnold of Pryor.

Both are sophomore golfers on partial scholarships.

Brumley attends UCO Edmond, and Arnold studies at the University of Arkansas at Fort Smith.

The money donated was leftover funds from a tri-state golf tournament held in July.

“Generally, we usually don’t have that type of money left at the end of the year,” said PWGA President Pat Richard. “We wanted to do something to give back to the people in our community.

Richard and Kelli Mills, PWGA Vice President, looked for high school senior golfers, but the search yielded no results.

“They were ecstatic and completely surpised” Richard said. “We knew these two girls were on partial scholarships and thought the money could help them. We were as ecstatic as them to find out we had the money to help.”
