LOCUST GROVE, OK — The Locust Grove girls soccer team captured the school’s first win Monday night since the program was started in 2012.

Sophomore Alondra Jimenez scored a goal at the 26:16 mark in the second half to give the Lady Pirates a 1-0 home victory over Commerce (1-10).

“It felt great, man (to get the school’s first win). I’m just so proud of the girls,” said head coach Ronnie Maple. “I got 11 girls right now, two of them are down injured, and one of them was gone this evening, so I played with 11 and they played all 80 minutes.

"Just the excitement of the fans and of the girls, I was proud that we could do this tonight and get our first win. It’s been a rough couple of years here, but it’s never stopped the girls from coming to practice and working every day. I’m just excited for them.”

Locust Grove improved to 1-6 on the season. The Lady Pirates will return to action Thursday night at Class 4A No. 12 Catoosa. The game is scheduled to begin at 5 p.m.
