PRYOR, OK —
Spencer Henson took two Claremore Sequoyah pitchers deep Thursday night, leading Pryor to a 10-2 five-inning rout in the second round of pool play in the Three Rivers Association varsity league summer tournament Tuesday at Pryor.
The sophomore third baseman went yard with a solo shot just inside the left field foul pole in the fourth inning and lined a two-run blast to the same spot in the fifth.
The Tigers fell behind 2-0 after one half-inning, but Nate Wolfe drove in Brennon Barth to cut the lead in to 2-1 in the bottom of the first. After a scoreless second, Pryor exploded for three runs in the third thanks to Eagle fielding errors and three singles from Bradley Nixon, Drake Nunley and Barth.
Barth and Anthony Martinez each added an RBI double in the fifth inning before Henson's two-run blast. Wolfe scored on another fielding error — the fourth of the game for the Eagles — to plate the final run.
Conley Ledoux picked up the win on the mound.
Pryor improved to 2-0 in Pool B play and will take on Metro Christian (2-0) at 7:30 p.m. Friday at Pryor for a spot in the state tournament and Saturday's 6:30 p.m. title game against the winner of Pool A.
Sequoyah (0-2) will battle Coweta (0-2) at 5 p.m. Friday for a spot in Saturday's third-place game. All final round games will be played at Claremore's American Legion Park.
