Coach tossed as Chouteau pops Chelsea

CHOUTEAU, OK — Chelsea lost its head boys coach during its 51-39 road loss to Chouteau Friday night.

Dragon coach Chris Smith was dismissed midway through the second quarter as Chouteau (12-6) took a 24-14 halftime lead. In Smith’s absence, the Dragons clawed back to within three before Chouteau slammed the door in the fourth quarter.

The Wildcats outscored Chelsea 21-12 in the final frame.

In the girls’ contest, the Ladycats fell behind 37-21 after two quarters en route to a 70-39 loss at the hands of the Lady Dragons.

Next up for Chouteau is a Tuesday trip to face Adair.

Adair outlasts Nowata

NOWATA — The Adair boys got a measure of revenge Friday, topping Nowata on the road, 52-48, to improve to 11-8.

Nowata got the best of the Warriors in January, taking a 55-52 win at the Adair Event Center. Adair has not lost at home since and is currently on a three-game win streak.
