Baseball roundup: Pirates paste Providence

LOCUST GROVE, OK — Locust Grove smashed Providence (Ark.) Academy, 12-3, Monday to improve to 7-19.

The Pirates earned a home win on Senior Night to send off four seniors: Dylan Hughes, Dekota Gregory, Caleb Fine and Jeremy McFarland. The Pirates will host at least two more games, however, welcoming Miami (17-12) for a Class 4A district tournament beginning Thursday.

The first game is set for 4 p.m. with the second game to follow.

Ketchum earns first win over Salina

SALINA — Ketchum won its first game in three tries against Salina Tuesday by a 5-4 count.

Salina (15-12) beat Ketchum 10-3 to win the Salina Invitational Saturday but fell in its final tuneup before hosting Nowata Thursday in a Class 3A district tournament.

The 'Cats and Ironmen (15-9) will throw the first pitch at 4 p.m.

Adair falls again at Dewey

DEWEY — Adair dropped a 7-3 decision to Class 4A No. 3 Dewey Tuesday.

The Warriors (12-14) will travel to face Pawhuska Thursday in a district tournament doubleheader.
