Wolfe's gem lifts Pryor over Coweta

PRYOR, OK — Nate Wolfe threw a complete-game one-hitter to lead Pryor to a 5-1 win over Coweta in the first round of pool play in the Three Rivers Association varsity league summer tournament Tuesday at Pryor.

Wolfe struck out 10 and walked one in seven innings of work, and drove in the go-ahead runs for Pryor with a third-inning triple.

Coweta tied the game at 1 in the top of the third after Wolfe allowed his only walk and only hit of the game, a double, to put runners at second and third. A passed ball allowed the runner on third to plate Coweta's only run.

Wolfe's triple keyed a three-run rally in the bottom of the inning to put Pryor ahead for good.

Center fielder Brennon Barth added a double in the fourth inning, and a wild throw by the Coweta center fielder into the home dugout allowed second baseman Conley Ledoux to score, pushing the Pryor margin to 5-1.

In the opener, Metro Christian hit a bases-loaded single in the bottom of the 10th inning to defeat Claremore-Sequoyah, 6-5.

In Thursday Pool B action, Metro will challenge Coweta in the 5:30 p.m. matchup and Pryor will take on Sequoyah at 8 p.m. All pool games will be at American Legion Memorial Field in Pryor.
