ADAIR, OK —
ADAIR — Brady Bradbury and Brock Martin each poured in 19 points for Adair as the Warriors flipped the script on Dewey, trouncing the Bulldoggers 63-46 in Saturday's 3A regional consolation championship at Adair.
The Warriors held a 15-14 advantage after one quarter that ballooned to 10 at halftime and 14 after three quarters.
Jordan Fleming joined Bradbury and Martin in double figures with 17 points. Bradbury and Martin each drained a trio of 3-pointers.
Dewey's Michael Sanders led all scorers with 22 points.
Dewey popped the Warriors 68-42 in their district title game Feb. 16, sending Adair into a must-win situation in the regional tournament.
And win they did. Beginning with a 84-75 overtime win over first-round foe Salina Thursday and continuing the next day with a 49-48 stunner over Eufaula, the Warriors wrapped up their area tourney bid with Saturday's win.
Adair will challenge the loser of Monday’s Verdigris-Kansas game at 8 p.m. Thursday at Fort Gibson.
In a late game Saturday, the fourth-ranked and unbeaten Adair girls strolled to a 57-37 winner over District 4 champ Eufaula to claim a berth in the Area 3 tourney.
The Lady Warriors exploded for 24 points in the decisive second quarter to pull away from the No. 8 Lady Ironheads.
Adair's Kylie Looney led all scorers with 18 points. Fellow Lady Warriors Raven Campos and Bailey Stephens added 14 and 8, respectively.
Adair held a commanding 49-34 lead after three quarters and allowed just three points — all on free throws — in the fourth to shut the door.
The Lady Warriors will contest the winner of Monday's Verdigris-Kansas battle in a 6:30 p.m. game Friday at Fort Gibson.
Adair needs just one win in two chances to capture a place in the state tournament. A win over the Verdigris-Kansas winner will automatically send the Lady Warriors to state as a top-four seed. A loss means Adair must defeat the losers' bracket champion to advance to state as a fifth-through-eighth seed.
