TAHLEQUAH, OK —
Brennon Barth piled on three touchdown runs for No. 10 Pryor as the Tigers eviscerated Tahlequah 41-15 Friday night at Doc Wadley Stadium.
Pryor's win, coupled with Claremore's 39-20 loss to Tulsa Central Thursday, guarantees the Tigers at least a third-place finish in District 5A-4. Pryor (6-2, 5-0) can clinch the district next week against Collinsville, which defeated to East Central 55-34 Friday.
Pryor and Collinsville will meet for a 7 p.m. kickoff Friday at Tiger Stadium.
Barth capped a 98-yard scoring drive with a 38-yard scamper to push Pryor to a 7-0 lead in the first quarter. Pryor converted a pair of third-down opportunities on the drive to set the tone for the game. Barth finished with a team-high 203 rushing yards on 20 carries. The reigning Tulsa World Athlete of the Week has averaged nearly 200 rushing yards over his last three games, and through eight games has totaled 1,116 rushing yards.
Matt McGouldrick, who added 140 yards on 15 totes, added his first of two TDs on a 22-yard dash in the second quarter to give Pryor a 14-0 halftime cushion.
Four Tahlequah drives ended in Pryor territory in the first half alone. Tahlequah (1-7, 1-4 5A-4) could not contain the potent Pryor rushing attack and threw a pair of interceptions.
McGouldrick tacked on a three-yard run and Barth aded a one-yard sneak with a second to play in the third quarter to send Tahlequah fans to the exits early.
Pryor racked up an even 400 yards of offense — including 367 on the ground.
Barth would score his third touchdown, a 35-yard run, midway through the fourth quarter to put Pryor up 35-8. Anthony Martinez led the Tiger reserves and scored on a seven-yard TD run — the Tigers' sixth of the night — for the final 41-15 margin. Martinez also picked off a Tahlequah pass, his third of the season.
Pryor senior Taylor Kegley picked off his second pass of the year as well.
