SALINA, OK —
The Salina Wildcats beat their second top-10 team in three days Monday, topping Class 4A's No. 9 Jay 11-5 to improve to 20-8 on the year.
Salina has won nine of its last 10 games and looks to be peaking at an opportune time with postseason play looming. Salina will open play this week against Nowata in their district tournament opener.
Adair dropped to 12-13 with a 9-0 home loss to Dewey Monday before their Tuesday game at Caney Valley was rained out.
The Warriors will travel to Chelsea Thursday to begin district play. The first pitch is set for 1 p.m.
Chouteau's last four games (Chelsea, Hulbert twice and Quapaw) were rained out, and the Wildcats (5-16) will now take on Central (Sallisaw) in district games.
The Wildcats and Tigers will face off twice Thursday, with first pitches scheduled for 1 and 3 p.m.
Locust Grove, with no games scheduled for the early part of the week, drew Jay in district competition.
The Pirates are 8-18 on the season, including two losses to Jay by double-digit margins earlier in the year.
Regional tournaments are yet to be decided. State tournaments will be May 9-11 at sites in Edmond and Shawnee. The Class 2A and 4A championship games will be at Shawnee HS, while the Class 3A title will be decided at Edmond Santa Fe.
