PRYOR, OK —
Three Mayes County baseball squads will get together this week to tangle in the 2013 edition of the Salina Invitational Tournament, co-hosted by Salina High School and Locust Grove High School.
Ten teams in two pools will compete in this year’s tournament.
Joining the Wildcats and Pirates in the Thursday, Friday and Saturday tournament will be the Warriors of Adair, who hit the road Friday and handed Dewey a 6-4 loss to improve to 10-9.
Adair will open the tourney at noon against Inola Thursday. That game will be played at Locust Grove. The Warriors will then match up with Ketchum for the fourth time this season in a 4 p.m. game Thursday at Salina.
The host Wildcats will play twice on Thursday as well, joining Colcord in battle at noon and Muldrow at 6 p.m.
Salina, ranked sixth in Class 3A, smacked Class 5A Tahlequah 10-2 at home Friday before falling 6-4 to Kickapoo (Springfield, Mo.) Saturday.
Locust will host one game Thursday, a 6 p.m. contest with Westville.
In Friday action, Salina will take on Beggs at 4 p.m. followed by Hale at 6 p.m. At Locust Grove, Adair and Westville will tangle at noon before meeting the Pirates for a Mayes County showdown at 2 p.m. Locust and Inola will close the day at 6 p.m.
Saturday will see the Pirates and the Warriors of Ketchum in action at noon at Locust Grove.
Salina will host the tourney title game at 2 p.m., featuring the team with the best four-game record from each of the two five-team pools.
Pool A: Salina, Muldrow, Beggs, Tulsa Hale, Colcord
Pool B: Locust Grove, Ketchum, Inola, Westville, Adair
Noon: Salina vs. Colcord
2 p.m.: Ketchum vs. Westville
4 p.m.: Ketchum vs. Adair
6 p.m.: Salina vs. Muldrow
At Locust Grove
Noon: Inola vs. Adair
2 p.m.: Muldrow vs. Beggs
4 p.m.: Beggs vs. Hale
6 p.m.: Locust Grove vs. Westville
