Chouteau too much for Hulbert

PRYOR — CHOUTEAU – The Chouteau Wildcats went on a 10-0 run to start the game and never looked back as they went on to a 63-47 win over Hulbert Tuesday night at the old “C-Block”.

Senior Jordan Shive led all scorers with 17 points, shooting nearly 80 percent from the field.  Jason Couch, Travis Brannon and Arlis Alsip also went for double figures in the win.

Chouteau opened the game on a 10-0 run, forcing Hulbert to call a timeout and talk things over.

The Cats were 5-for-8 from the field (63 percent) and 6-of-10 from beyond the arc (60 percent) in a 27-point opening quarter. The first quarter proved too much for Hulbert to overcome.

For consecutive games fireworks have appeared for Chouteau.

With less than a minute to go in the third quarter, Hulbert’s Chris Vance and Chouteau’s Matthew Bendure went up for a rebound but got tangled up.

Bendure fell to the floor and as he was trying to get up, Vance shoved Bendure back to the ground.  The shove rewarded Vance with a technical foul, while Bendure remained calm and cool.  The technical ignited the Chouteau faithful and the student section.

Chouteau takes on Caney Valley Friday.
