Salina heading to Lone Star State

PRYOR, OK — Salina's Wildcats prepped for a trip to San Antonio over spring break by routing Dickson and Marietta in a doubleheader Saturday.

Salina, 6-1 and ranked third in Class 3A, will take on Central Catholic High School (San Antonio), San Antonio Home School and Laredo (Texas) Alexander High School this week during their trip to the Lone Star State.

The Wildcats opened Saturday with a 17-4 thrashing of Dickson before mauling Marietta 10-4 in the afternoon game.

Adair dropped to 0-3 on the season, but not before pushing Class 3A's top-ranked Verdigris to the brink Saturday. The Warriors held Verdigris well below their season run average but still fell by a 3-1 decision.

The Warriors begin pool play at the Ketchum Hardball Classic against host Ketchum. Adair is also set to take on Quapaw at 4 p.m. Wednesday and Fairland at noon Thursday before Friday's finals.

Locust Grove fell to 2-7 as 4A's No. 12 Jay hit the Pirates with an 18-3 loss Friday. Locust challenged Oologah at Oologah Monday and are set to tangle with Keys (Park Hill) at 1 p.m. today at Keys.

Chouteau came away from the Okay Tournament with a 1-1 record, topping Braggs 2-1 Thursday before succumbing to Warner 7-3 Friday.
