SALINA, OK — Salina senior Bret Fite threw a complete game and hit a two-run home run to help the Wildcats topple Adair, 5-3, in baseball action Tuesday at Sam Baker Stadium.

Fite struck out six Warriors and allowed four hits in seven innings, and was a perfect 3-for-3 with two singles and the fifth-inning home run to straight centerfield.

Fite batted in lead-off batter Cale Backward twice, including the game's first run in the bottom of the first inning. Backward was 2-for-3 with a pair of singles.

Salina (7-5) took a 3-0 lead after one inning. Logan Gardner doubled in Bryce Kerns for the third run.

Adair (5-4) got on the board in the top of the second inning on a Brock Martin RBI double that scored Tayler Conseen. The scoreboard went untouched until Fite went yard in the bottom of the fifth.

Adair catcher and clean-up hitter Alec Brand, who broke his nose during a play at the plate Monday at Commerce, was back in the lineup Tuesday. He hit an RBI single in the top of the sixth to cut the Salina lead to 5-2.

Martin scored on a passed ball in the top of the seventh, but the potential tying run, Cody Eby, flied out to end the game.

Hunter Rosebrough was the losing pitcher, allowing eight hits and striking out five Wildcats.
