CHOUTEAU, OK —
Chouteau, which finished last year with a disappointing 2-8 record, will challenge Warner to open the season. The Wildcats dropped last year's season opener at Warner, which went on to claim the District A-8 championship.
The Wildcats will be road warriors in 2013, with six of their 10 regular-season contests away from Chouteau High. Their longest road stretch includes a Sept. 13 showdown at Summit Christian, a Sept. 20 rematch at Porter, and the District 2A-7 opener at Chelsea Sept. 27.
The Wildcats will be back in Mayes County for their next two games. The Wildcats will celebrate homecoming against Oklahoma Union Oct. 4 before traveling north on Highway 69 to collide with Adair Oct. 11. Adair, the defending 2A-8 champion, ran away with last season's contest, 61-9.
The Wildcats will host Pawhuska in a Thursday night game Oct. 11 before traveling to Caney Valley Oct. 25. Chouteau will conclude its district schedule and home schedule on Nov. 1 against Nowata.
The Wildcats will head to Canadian for a non-district match-up Nov. 8.
Chouteau went 0-6 in district play in 2012. Their two non-district victories came in Week 3 at Porter and in the season finale at Canadian.
To make up for the lack of a fifth home game, Chouteau will host a pair of inter-school scrimmages. Those are set for Aug. 23 and Aug. 30.
