Yeager claims second in Reno

RENO, NV — Locust Grove 132-pounder Cub Yeager wrangled a runner-up finish and a 6-1 record at the Reno (Nev.) Tournament of Champions High School wrestling tournament over the weekend.

Teammate Braden Bennett placed fourth in the 113-pound weight class.

Yeager, a University of Wyoming commit, pinned his first two opponents in the tournament quarterfinal and semifinal rounds. Dusty Hone of Cedar (Cedar City, Utah) High School took a 5-4 decision from Yeager in the final.

Bennett entered Saturday with a perfect record and pinned Grandview (Aurora, Colo.) High's Xavier Cardenas in a quarterfinal, but a 14-9 decision in a semifinal dropped Bennett into the consolation bracket. Bennett took a 4-3 decision from Kaleb Tackett of Columbia (Idaho) High but dropped a 6-4 decision in the third-place match.
