Fantasy Football Forecast: Week 3

PRYOR, OK — The key asset needed to win a fantasy football championship is luck.

No, not Indianapolis Colts quarterback Andrew Luck, although he did throw for 321 yards and a touchdown last week for a solid fantasy performance. I’m talking about the type of luck that you need when buying a lottery ticket. Good luck causes you to start players like St. Louis rookie receiver Tavon Austin, who caught two touchdowns Sunday after only a 41-yard performance the previous week.

Bad luck has you shaking your head at Denver Broncos receiver Demaryius Thomas, who only caught five passes for 52 yards after a 161-yard, two-TD show against Baltimore in Week 1.

I hope to bring you good luck throughout your fantasy season and below are some players who I believe will be good luck charms for you this week.

Quarterback: Peyton Manning, Broncos

Manning does not have an easy matchup against Oakland, the Raiders currently have the fifth-best secondary in the league. But, once again Manning is on a big stage Monday night and should have no problem with the Raiders’ defense.

Running back: Marshawn Lynch, Seattle Seahawks

Lynch is a very talented back and may have the greatest matchup in the league at home against Jacksonville. The Jaguars statistically have the second-worst run defense in the league thus far. The Seahawks will also be pounding the ball after opening what should be a very large lead.

Wide receiver: DeSean Jackson, Philadelphia Eagles

Jackson has had over 100 yards receiving and has caught a touchdown in the first two games of the season. He was also seven yards shy of 200 last week. Jackson should continue put up those numbers this week against the his former coach Andy Reid and the Chiefs.

Sleeper: QB Sam Bradford, St. Louis Rams

Bradford has put up solid numbers thus far (651 yards and five touchdowns), and will play a Dallas defense this week that allows over 300 passing yards a game.
