MAYES COUNTY, OK — Trying to plan your basketball watching weekend? The Times has every area tournament that features a local team covered. Here's a forecast of this weekend's games:

Boys Class 4A Area II

Claremore High School

Consolation games: Inola (18-8) vs. Locust Grove (22-3), Thursday, 3 p.m.;  Cascia Hall (13-12) vs. Stilwell (20-5), Thursday, 8 p.m.; Semifinal Friday, 3 p.m.; Consolation Final Saturday, 8 p.m.

Championship game: Harrah (24-2) vs. Douglass (18-4), Friday, 8 p.m.

Expected champion: Harrah.

Expected runner-up: Locust Grove.

Locust Grove should muscle past Inola to set up a rematch with Stilwell, which embarrassed the Pirates in LG in a regional first-rounder. If the Pirates can get through the early gauntlet, Douglass should be the only thing standing between LG and a state tournament bid.

Girls Class 4A Area II

Claremore High School

Consolation games: Inola (18-8)  vs. Stilwell (18-8), Thursday, 1:30 p.m.; Newcastle (19-8) vs. Locust Grove (17-7), Thursday, 6:30 p.m.; Semifinal Friday, 1:30 p.m.; Consolation Final Saturday, 6:30 p.m.

Championship game: Harrah (22-4) vs. Vinita (20-5), Friday, 6:30 p.m.

Expected champion: Harrah.

Expected runner-up: Vinita.

Harrah is a clear frontrunner for a state spot, but after the Lady Panthers the field clouds up. LG has had Vinita on the ropes more than once this season, so if the Lady Pirates can navigate the first two rounds and set up a rematch with the Lady Hornets in the consolation final, anything could happen.

Boys Class 3A Area II

Skiatook High School

Consolation games: Adair (15-10) vs. Henryetta (19-8), Thursday, 3 p.m.; Sperry (21-5) vs. Lincoln Christian (13-13), Thursday, 8 p.m.; Semifinal Friday, 3 p.m.; Consolation Final Saturday, 8 p.m.

Championship game: Nowata (17-9) vs. Spiro (23-2), Friday, 8 p.m.

Expected champion: Spiro.

Expected runner-up: Sperry.

Spiro should waltz into the state tournament against Nowata, leaving five teams to fight over one last spot. Adair will need some help from its own shooters and a Lincoln Christian upset in the first round if it wants to avoid facing elimination at the hands of Sperry for the second year running.

Girls Class 3A Area II

Skiatook High School

Consolation games: Chelsea (17-7) vs. Kansas (19-7), Thursday, 1:30 p.m.; Newkirk (16-10) vs. Beggs (23-2), Thursday, 6:30 p.m.; Semifinal Friday, 1:30 p.m; Consolation Final Saturday, 6:30 p.m.

Championship game: Adair (25-1) vs. Spiro (20-5), Friday, 6:30 p.m.

Expected champion: Adair.

Expected runner-up: Beggs.

Adair hasn't faced this strong of competition since picking up the lone blemish on its schedule in December in the Tournament of Champions, but the Lady Warriors need only dispatch Spiro to move to state. A loss would likely pit Adair against a tough Beggs team in the consolation final.

Boys Class 2A Area IV

Muskogee Civic Center

Consolation games: Pocola (18-7) vs. Talihina (18-5), Thursday, 3 p.m.; Chouteau (18-9) vs. Dale (20-7), Thursday, 8 p.m.; Semifinal Friday, 3 p.m.; Consolation Final Saturday, 8 p.m.

Championship game: Howe (25-3) vs. Preston (21-4), Friday, 8 p.m.

Expected champion: Preston.

Expected runner-up: Howe.

Chouteau is the odd man out in this tourney. Dale is a more formidable foe than its 20-7 record shows, and the Pirates have plenty of  size inside that they will try to exploit. Chouteau will need to find its outside stroke early if it hopes to have a chance to move past the first round.
