OKLAHOMA CITY, OK — LG's Cook named coach of year

OKLAHOMA CITY — Locust Grove Head Wrestling Coach Johnny Cook was named Class 3A/4A Wrestling Coach of the Year Saturday during the 2014 State Wrestling Tournament at the State Fairgrounds Arena.

Cook also received this award in 2006, but Cook does not think too highly of the individual honor.

“Nothing,” Cook said when asked about what receiving the award meant to him. “Individual awards, those are just opinions. It doesn’t mean anything, it’s just other people’s opinions. All that matters is kids winning matches and getting them on to college.”

Cook, in his 24th year at Locust Grove, led the Pirates to a 9-3 dual record and a dual state appearance after capturing a district title.
