LOCUST GROVE, OK —
Locust Grove and Adair will host district tournaments this weekend, with Locust the site of some provisional games in a regional tournament the following weekend.
The Class 4A Pirates and Lady Pirates will host Miami in an Area II district tournament Saturday. The boys, ranked 11th with a 16-2 record before their Monday night game against Wagoner, will tip off after the girls game at 6:30 p.m.
Locust Grove will also be the site of four first-round regional games Feb. 27.
Adair will host Pawhuska in 3A district tournament games Friday before heading to Sperry for a regional. The Warriors and Lady Warriors will be favored in both games against Pawhuska.
Salina, Chouteau face road tests
In 3A Area II, Salina will travel to Kansas for a pair of district tournament games Saturday. The Wildcats will begin regional tournament play Feb. 27 in Spiro.
In Class 2A, the Chouteau boys will have a long road to return to the state tournament, beginning with an elimination game in the first round of a district tournament Friday at Colcord. The Wildcats will face Fairland at 8 p.m.
The Chouteau-Fairland winner will advance to play host Colcord Saturday at 8 p.m. with a spot in an Area IV regional winners' bracket on the line.
The Chouteau girls will also face Fairland in a first-round game at Colcord Friday at 6:30 p.m.
