Adair blasts Salina in make-up games

Freshman Keni Jo Lippe scored a game-high 22 points, junior Kylie Looney added 13 and the Adair girls ran away with a 70-27 win over Salina Wednesday in a make-up game at the Adair Event Center.
The Lady Warriors (19-1), ranked first in Class 3A, held Salina to just 10 second-half points in the runaway victory after building a 34-17 halftime lead.
Sophomore forward Courtney Condit led Salina (10-8) with 12 points. The loss snapped a six-game winning streak for the Lady Wildcats, who will travel to Kansas for its 3A district tournament Jan. 20.
Salina has beaten the 10th-ranked Lady Comets twice in 2014 and will need to do it again to advance to a regional tournament at Henryetta.
Adair will host Chelsea in its area tournament. Barring a huge upset, the Lady Warriors will play in a regional tournament at Sperrythe following weekend.
Starters Molly Kerr and Bailey Stephens scored 10 and eight points, respectively, for Adair, which hasn't lost in the 2014 calendar year.
Kaiee Moore and Morgan Littlefield each added five points for Salina.
Adair jumps on Salina early
ADAIR -- Brock Martin exploded for 23 points and his Adair Warriors held off a late Salina charge to top the Wildcats, 68-51, Wednesday.
Freshman forward BJ Bradbury poured in 22 points for the Warriors (10-8), who completed a season sweep of their Mayes County foes.
Salina (10-8) fell behind by as many as 23 in the second half, but closed the gap to 11 in the fourth quarter behind a furious scoring charge by senior guard Cale Backward. Backward scored 14 of his team-high 21 points in the final frame.
Jereme McCollum pitched in eight points and Greg Oxford six for Adair. Mark Cowan (nine points) and Coby Backward (six) helped the Salina efforts.
