Daniels awarded Central Region Gold Glove

WAYNE, Neb. — Salina product and Southwestern Oklahoma State junior standout Dalton Daniels has been named to the 2014 Central Region Gold Glove Team at shortstop.

The team is sponsored by the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) in association with Rawlings and rewards the top defensive player at their position in the Central Region.

Daniels graduated from Salina High School in 2011 and spent time at Connors State College in Warner before transferring to SWOSU.

Daniels became an instant contributor for the Bulldogs in his first season with the team. He started all 48 games at shortstop, leading the team with a .354 batting average, 63 hits and 41 runs scored.

Defensively, he committed just 12 errors in 174 attempts, recording 74 putouts and a .954 fielding percentage while helping the Bulldogs turn 48 double plays, compared to just 30 turned by their oppositions.

Additionally, Daniels finished with seven doubles and 22 RBI while drawing 29 walks and leading the team with a .460 on-base percentage.
