Titans oust Tigers for second-straight year

NORMAN, OK — Carl Albert exploded for 10 runs in the third, fourth and fifth innings to take down Pryor, 10-4, in a Class 5A state baseball quarterfinal at Norman North High School Thursday.

The Tigers (21-16) took a quick 3-0 lead after one inning. A Brennon Barth RBI single gave Pryor a 1-0 lead and Christian Campbell knocked a two-RBI double later in the inning.

The Titans (36-4), who also knocked the Tigers out of last year's 5A tournament, tied the game in third inning and took a 7-3 lead after four. Gavin LeValley's three-run home run in the fifth inning turned out to be the dagger.

Pryor added another run late, but could not rally for the win as it did twice in its regional tournament.

Carl Albert advanced to the state semifinals to face Guthrie Friday. The Titans are seeking their third straight 5A title.
