Pryor starts 1-2 at Shootout

McALESTER, OK — Shawnee ripped Pryor, 12-0, in action Friday at the 5A Shootout in McAlester.

The Wolves picked apart the Tiger pitching rotation in a precursor to a pair of district games the two teams will play next week.

The Tigers (16-12) are currently 9-2 in District 5A-4, a half-game behind both McAlester (9-1) and Shawnee (9-1).

Pryor already split its season series with McAlester. Its other loss came at Coweta in March.

Pryor will need to win at least one of its two games against the Wolves next week to have a chance at a district title or hosting a home regional. The Tigers host Shawnee Tuesday and travel for a rematch Friday.

Pryor will close its district slate May 3 at Tulsa Edison.

Carl Albert knocked off Pryor 9-1 Thursday in a 5A Shootout contest at McAlester.

The Tigers and Titans met in a rematch of a 2013 Class 5A state tournament quarterfinal. Carl Albert won that game as well and went on to with the 5A crown.

The Tigers picked up their lone win at the Shootout Thursday against Chickasha. Pryor silenced the Chicks with a 10-4 victory.
