Soccer: Pryor ousts Grove in shootout

GROVE, OK — Sarah Due took over in goal for Pryor Friday and helped the Tigerettes overcome Grove in a shootout and improve to 6-4 on the season.

Due, who usually plays on the back line, stepped into goal for freshman Haley Spencer for the shootout and deflected the sixth Ridgerunner penalty kick to give the Tigerettes a 5-4 shootout victory.

Spencer kept the Tigerette net clean during the 80 minutes of regulation and overtime, but none of Pryor's 18 shots found the Grove goal.

Pryor improved to 2-2 in District 5A-3 play and will host winless Nathan Hale today at 6 p.m.

Grove tips Pryor in second half

GROVE — Colten Smith found Colby Pettus for a second-half goal, but it was not enough as Pryor fell to Grove 2-1 Friday.

Pettus' first goal of the season came on his only shot of the game, but the Tigers fell to 5-5 and 1-3 in District 5A-3.

Pryor sits in fifth place in the district and will need some help to earn a playoff berth. The Tigers can help their cause with a win over Nathan Hale today. The Tigers topped Hale in March at the Tulsa Edison Tournament.
