Adair, Salina romp in Mayes County matchups

PRYOR, OK — Call it Runaway Tuesday.

The Adair Warrior baseball squad improved to 3-5 on the season after walloping their southern rival Chouteau 15-1, while Salina protected its No. 2 state ranking with a 17-6 demolition of Locust Grove.

After weather canceled their game at Adair Monday, Adair and Salina (9-2) will get a chance to rekindle their rivalry April 9 at Salina.

Adair will next host Nowata for a doubleheader today at 4 and 5 p.m. while Salina will open pool play at the Oologah-Talala Invitational at 2 p.m. today against Berryhill.

Chouteau fell to 2-7 on the year but did pick up its second win Monday, a 9-1 home decision over Class A Porter.

The Chouteau 'Cats will challenge Locust at 4:30 Friday at Chouteau in a rematch of both teams' season opener. The Pirates took that contest by an 11-3 count.

LG (4-9) had its Monday game at Vinita canceled.
