Tigers go 2-2 at Aggie Classic

PRYOR, OK — The Pryor baseball team dropped a 6-3 decision to Greenwood (Ark.) before it evened its Aggie Classic record at 2-2 with an 11-1 destruction of Navarre (Fla.) Thursday.

The Tigers concluded pool play with the loss to Greenwood. Pryor held a 3-1 lead after three innings but Greenwood scored five unanswered runs to knock off the Tigers.

Anthony Martinez (2-1) took his first loss on the mound.

In Thursday’s seeded matchup, the Class 5A No. 10 Tigers pelted Navarre for six first-inning runs on their way to their eighth win of the year, and sixth by double figures.

The Tiger defense was flawless, allowing no errors, and Zack Hammock (3-2) pitched a complete game. Hammock gave up a run and a pair of hits in his seven innings of work.

Now 8-5, Pryor travels home to play at rival Claremore Tuesday before they co-host the Tiger-Zebra Classic Thursday, Friday and Saturday. The No. 2 Zebras, previously unbeaten, were frustrated with their first losses of the season at the Aggie Classic last week.

The Locust Grove Pirates began their first winning streak of the season, but they did it in much worse conditions than sunny Florida, taking down Hilldale 9-6 at home in the sleet Thursday.

Locust trounced Keys (Park Hill) 13-5 Tuesday, their second win over the Cougars this season.

The Pirates improved to 4-8 and are scheduled to challenge Spiro Saturday.

Adair picked up the first win of its late-start season in pool play of the Ketchum Hardball Classic, a 7-0 win over Quapaw Thursday. Adair is set to conclude the tournament Saturday against a foe to be decided.

Class 3A’s No. 2 Salina dropped its second game of the season during its Texas road trip, a 13-2 loss at Laredo Alexander High School (Laredo, Texas) Tuesday.

Salina (8-2) went 2-1 on the trip, snagging wins over Central Catholic High School (San Antonio) and San Antonio Home School.
