OCU women win 6th title

FRANKFORT, Ky.  — Oklahoma City defeated Union (Tenn.), 69-48, Tuesday night in the finals of in the NAIA Division I Women's Basketball National Championship at the Frankfort Convention Center.

It was Oklahoma City’s sixth national championship, and its first since the Stars won four straight from 1999 to 2002. Oklahoma City finishes the season 35-1.

Union, which entered the game allowing just 51.3 points per game this season and 48.8 during its tournament run, gave up a season-high 69 points for the second time this season to Oklahoma City. The Stars beat Union 69-57 on Nov. 26.

OCU shot 53 percent (28-of-52) from the field, including 8-of-14 3-pointers.

Taylor Booze, named the tournament's Most Valuable Player, was one of the reasons the Stars were so efficient from the field. She connected on 8-of-13 shots, including 2-of-3 from beyond the arc.

Union shot 34 percent (20-of-59) from the field and 4-of-19 on 3-pointers.
