Tiger wrestlers bring home 11 medals

BROKEN ARROW, OK — The Pryor junior high and high school wrestlers won 11 medals Saturday at the Broken Arrow preseason wrestling tournament.

Two high school grapplers, Logan Litke and Dylan Wright, swept the 120-pound classification, which was split into two brackets. Litke and Wright took home Pryor's two first-place medals.

Litke defeated Allen, Texas' Gabe Torres 4-1 for the 120-pound championship. Torres was a fourth-place finisher at 113 pounds in the Texas state championships in 2012.

Two wrestlers placed third: Cody Foos (138 pounds) and state qualifier Kelvin Grubbs (152 pounds). Grubbs knocked off Tahlequah's Mitch Sellers, a fourth-place winner at 138-pounds at the 2012 state championship meet, 3-2 in the third-place bout.

Steven Crogan went 2-2 in the 195-pound class. His second loss was 9-7 in overtime in the consolations semi-finals.

In the junior high meet, Von Gray (98 pounds), Logan Hammock (126 pounds), Konnor Godwin (134 pounds) and Nevin Henson (heavyweight) all took home first-place medals in their respective divisions.

Two junior-high Tigers collected second place medals: Daniel Chase (150 pounds) and Curtis Smallwood (162 lbs) Bennett Sherrer placed fourth in the 89-pound division.
