Henson wins Pryor Junior PGA event

PRYOR, OK — Locust Grove’s Daniel Henson picked up his first South Central Junior PGA Tour Tournament title Tuesday after shooting a 76 at the Pryor Junior Tournament.

“It felt good (to win the tournament), Henson, who graduated in May, said. “I didn’t think my game was where it needed to be, but I was able to hit some shots and make a few putts, and it ended up being enough to win.”

Henson’s former teammate Josh McFarland claimed third place in the boys 16-18 year-old division behind Garrett Brown of Metro Christian. Brown was close behind Henson with a 78 and McFarland shot an 82.

Henson and McFarland qualified for the state tournament in the spring and both plan to continue to compete in the South Central Junior PGA Tour this summer. Henson is using the junior tour to gain more experience before golfing at the collegiate level this fall. He has received offers from John Brown University and Sterling College, but is still undecided.

Henson and McFarland returned to action Wednesday in Owasso at the Bailey Ranch Junior Tournament, but no results were available at press time.
