OKLAHOMA CITY, OK — Locust Grove sophomore Jason Pirtle was granted a waiver Wednesday by the Oklahoma Secondary Schools Activities Association to play for Team USA's football team in Februrary.

The OSSAA originally ruled Pirtle could risk losing eligibility if he played in the international competition, citing Rules 16 and 19 in the OSSAA rulebook which regard All-Star game competition and school-year participation on other organized teams.

The appeal board voted unanimously in Pirtle's favor.

Pirtle and Team USA will play Canada in Arlington, Texas, on Feb. 8, 2014.
