Softball: Adair rips off four straight wins

ADAIR, OK — Adair's fast-pitch squad tore through competition over the weekend, trumping Nowata, Webster and No. 12 Kansas to improve to 15-8.

The Lady Warriors shut out Nowata 13-0 and Webster 12-0 Thursday before a home contest with the Lady Comets Saturday. Adair edged Kansas, 4-2.

Sixteenth-ranked Adair is scheduled for a rematch with Chelsea today before hosting the Adair Tournament Thursday, Friday and Saturday. The Lady Warriors' first game is set for 11:30 a.m. against an opponent to be decided.

Tigerettes fall below .500 in district

Claremore pounded Pryor 8-0 in district action Thursday to drop the Tigerettes below .500 in district play for the first time this year.

Pryor (11-10, 3-4 District 5A-3) rebounded with a non-district win over Sallisaw Saturday. The Tigerettes rolled the Lady Black Diamonds 11-3.

District contests at Skiatook and at home against Collinsville were slated for Monday and Thursday, but rainy conditions may begin to be a factor for the first time since season-opening tournaments forced the cancellation of several area tournaments.

Lady Pirates reeling

After three straight losses in the Wyandotte Tournament over the weekend, Locust Grove is seeing spots.

Inola and Kansas blasted LG in Thursday action, taking 11-1 and 7-0 wins from the Lady Pirates. Welch dealt the final blow, a 7-5 defeat Saturday.

The Lady Pirates (5-19) have lost a dozen straight games (and 17 of their last 18) after a promising 4-2 start.

The Pirates were slated to host Catoosa Monday before traveling to Tahlequah for the Sequoyah Tournament beginning Thursday. LG will tackle Muldrow, Vian, Westville and Fort Gibson.
