PRYOR, OK —
The Pryor Tiger baseball squad improved to 13-9 after early week games with Cascia Hall and Nathan Hale, the latter of which the Tigers smashed 10-4 Tuesday night at American Legion Memorial Field.
Zack Hammock doubled twice on his way to a 3-for-3 day at the plate. Hammock also batted in four runs.
Spencer Henson and Brennon Barth each batted in runs on doubles, while Kelvin Grubbs went 2-for-3 with an RBI.
Bradley Nixon (1-0) picked up his first win on the mound, throwing four perfect innings with seven strikeouts in relief of Anthony Martinez.
The victory helped Pryor (No. 10 in Class 5A) improve to 5-3 in district play.
In Monday's game at Cascia Hall, the Commandoes took a 5-4 win with a bases-loaded walk with two outs in the bottom of the seventh.
Cascia scored two in the bottom of the first inning. Pryor answered with two of their own in the top of the third to tie the game.
The Commandoes tacked on two runs in the bottom of the sixth to put pressure on the Tigers, but Pryor responded with a pair of runs in the seventh to tie the game at 4.
Nate Wolfe, who started on the mound, was 3-for-3 at the plate. Holloway was 2-for-3 and scored a pair of runs.
Holloway also swiped 18th and 19th bases of the season.
Third baseman Henson went 2-for-3 with a two-RBI double to go with a stolen base.
Pryor is set to head to Tulsa for the second game of their district home-and-home series with Hale Thursday. The first pitch is scheduled for 4:30 p.m.
