Chavoya, Ayres named student athletes of the month

PRYOR, OK — Yorktown Bank, formerly Century Bank of Oklahoma, honors Pryor High School Student Athletes who excel in sports and academics. Students are selected monthly, receive recognition for their accomplishments and become candidates for the Yorktown Bank Athlete of the Year Scholarship.

The February Yorktown Bank Athletes of the Month were Ofelia Chavoya and Thomas Ayres.

Chavoya is a junior and plays tennis, basketball and cross country. She is a member of the National Honor Society, State Honors Society, Leadership, German Club, Ballroom Dancing Club and Zero Hour. She is also involved in Student Council and Prom Committee. After graduation she plans to attend the University of Oklahoma to obtain a master’s degree in communication and a degree in sonography.   

Ayres is a senior and plays Basketball and Golf. He is a member of Spanish Club, Physics, AP Calculus, AP English, Honors Spanish, Yearbook, Math Club and Band. He also participates in Hunting, Shooting, Firearm Collecting, Scouting (Eagle Scout), Welding and Church Activities. He is Valedictorian, top 10 percent National and State Honors Society and Mr. Pryor. After graduation he plans to serve a two-year mission for Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Goiânia Brazil area. After his mission trip he plans to attend the Oklahoma State University with a major in petroleum or electrical engineering.
